Melacca Trip

so, this past weekend, me and a big group of my friends went over to melacca to relax and get our dose of history.

as planned, we met up at maulana at 9 am on satuday, where we had breakfast and waited for departure. we left ttdi around 10.30-ish and headed for the sungai besi toll gate. there were 11 of us in 3 cars. driving was me in my car, mal in hana's car and sue in her car.

the drive was uneventful, mostly maintaining a safe speed of between 90-110 km/h. after what seemed like forever, we decided to stop at the "restoran jejantas" rest stop between alor gajah and ayer keroh exit. we rested for about 10 minutes before moving on again.

after exiting the highway, we headed straight into the heart of melacca city. from there, we walked around stadhuys, st. paul church, around a famosa. later, we headed to a food court to have a late lunch. stayed there for a while before moving again to melaka central to pick up puchi and ira. by the time we met up with them it was almost 4 in the afternoon.

with ira and puchi joining us, thus completes the line-up, that comprises of:
me, zura,nana,shaz,mal,hani,effan,hana,sue,shira,fadhilah,put and ira.

from melaka central, we headed straight to klebang beach in search of our home away from home . after about half an hour of searching , we finally found the place. its a small old style single story bungalow with 4 rooms. it was big enough to fit probably about 20 people.

we rested, bathed, watched tv, played guitar hero till about 7.15 before we headed to umbai for dinner. ikan bakar was on the menu for most, as it is the specialty of the area.

after that we headed back to the heart of melacca city for walk around and take the sights and sounds of jonker street at night. walked for probably 3 hours before finally heading home at around 12.30. fun place. colorful, lots of people, lots of things up for sale. reminds me of the old uptown. i miss that place.

by the time we reached home, most of us were already too tired so most of us went to sleep. me, shaz and mal however stayed awake to play a round of tai-ti aka big two aka royal. to make it more interesting, we decided to have the loser of each round down a cup of water all in one go. after 7 games, the results were shaz with 4 cups, mals with 2 cups and me with just 1.

at about 3.30am everyone has slept. apparently of the 3, i was the first one to open up my boxer engine and rumbled all night. thankfully, all 3 of us were able to sleep soundly.

the 3rd day saw us going once again to jonker street. we had our breakfast/lunch at a place called limau limau cafe. its a small cafe with interesting decor and a very cosy atmosphere. food is good and the milkshakes are good.

after lunch we walked over to menara taming sari. there we got on and enjoyed a 360 view of the city and surrounding area from 80 metres up. breathtaking. its nice to get to see something from a different angle once in a while.

after that was the melacca zoo. normal. nothing to shout about. but it was stil great to see shaz meeting his soulmate the pink parrot. took a trem ride around the zoo and then went out.

from there it was a race home. dropped zura off at kajang, dropped ira off at KJ LRT, then headed to uptown to have dinner with nana and put.

interesting and tiring weekend. way too much walking. but still, good to spend some time with friends.
